For 33 years, NCM has been a beacon of hope—steadily evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of our neighbors. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide far more than food and clothing; we have offered dignity, opportunity, and hope . This year, your support made an extraordinary difference in countless ways: Expanding our Casework Services : We extended our reach into Southern Essex County, offering advocacy, referrals, and Emergency Financial Assistance now across 52 miles of Interstate 87. Feeding Families Through Crisis : During the government shutdown, when need surged, we began our evening hours at our Brant Lake food pantry and served double our usual number of households in Warrensburg. Keeping Homes Warm : When HEAP was unavailable, NCM stepped up; fueling homes, cleaning furnaces, and ensuring families stayed safe and warm through the winter. Your generosity has touched lives in profoundly personal ways: A single mother of four, facing an unheated home and an empty pantry, found relief through NCM. After a friend told her to visit NCM she left that day with not only fuel, but with food, and even a winter coat for her daughter. Through tears she said, “You didn’t make me feel like a bad mom, you just helped me and my kids.” After 11 years of casework support, one long-time client is now living independently, confidently self-advocating after years of struggle. A family new to the area feared they would go without Thanksgiving this year after their SNAP benefits were delayed. With it likely being their grandmother’s last holiday season, the thought of not celebrating together because they could not afford it was heartbreaking. After reaching out to NCM, they were signed up for a free turkey basket filled with everything needed for a full holiday meal, restoring not only their table, but their family’s hope and sense of togetherness . These stories are just a glimpse of the ripple effects your kindness creates every day. As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded of the warmth and abundance many of us are blessed to enjoy. Yet for too many, even the smallest act of help can mean the difference between despair and hope. This year, we invite you to make your year-end gift more impactful than ever. NCM was able to help provide gifts to 277 children last year, in our very rural catchment area. They received gifts of clothing and toys that their families otherwise would not have been able to provide. We cannot thank those who donated enough for the joy you brought to the lives of these children during the holiday season. Our team is at it again to ensure that we are there to give a Hand of Hope to those who need it most this upcoming holiday season. We cannot do it alone though; we hope that you would consider offering your Hand to provide a joyous holiday season. Another way to be involved is through being a volunteer shopper! As a volunteer shopper, NCM will gladly reimburse you for the gifts purchased for a child or family you adopt. Please let us know if that is of interest to you. The hope is to have all replies from those who wish to participate returned by November 10th . This time frame will allow us to know how many children we will be able to provide for this season. We are extremely thankful to be named one of Tri-County United Way’s Supported Agencies for 2025-2026. Tri-County United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for all. Through Tri-County United Way, community partner agencies tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and non-profit partners to boost: education, financial stability, and health.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sister Fran Husselback on Sunday, January 19th. She passed peacefully in the comfort of hospice. For those who may not know, she was one of the initial Sisters who were sent by an order of the Albany Diocese to the north country as they felt that our area needed assistance, and that is how NCM started. Sister Fran was a blessing to all who met her, she loved our organization and the communities we serve.  Sister Fran said, “NCM was built by the Adirondack people, for the Adirondack people” and we hope that we sure do live up to that.
North Country Ministry’s 16th Annual Golf Classic was a huge success! With the help of our sponsors, golfers, raffle ticket purchasers, and volunteers we collected $29,871.56 in net proceeds! We were excited to welcome 91 golfers to the course and thankful that we had a few extra join us for the fabulous steak dinner, later in the evening. The weather could not have been better and Cronin’s course was beautiful as always.  Thank you for your continued support. Just the other week in one evening, in one of our two food pantries, we fed 164 individuals. We are seeing an increase in need at our food pantries, and fundraisers like these ensure that we can continue to feed these households that are in need of our services.
